How to play backgammon online with friends

Clear rules, board examples, and practice without pressure.

  1. Both players sign in

    Each player needs their own account. Bot practice needs no account, but online tables do.

  2. Send an invite or share a code

    Invite someone from your Friends list. Alternatively, open Play, create a private table, and share its code or link.

  3. Accept the invitation

    Your friend can find the invitation in notifications and on their homepage. With a table code, use the join-private-table option on Play instead.

  4. Roll for the first turn

    Each player rolls one die. The higher roll starts using both dice. Ties mean both players roll again.

  5. Play without risking Rank Points

    Friendly games do not change your rank. For ranked play, choose a random opponent instead of inviting a friend.
